US President Donald Trump during a press conference stated the possible escalation of United States attention to the situation in Cuba following recent events in Venezuela.

According to the American leader, Cuba is in a critical state where "the system is not functioning properly, and people are suffering". Trump emphasized that the United States considers "helping the Cuban people" as a logical next step after events in Caracas.

US Administration Position

The President stressed that this is not about a military operation. "Cuba, in my opinion, will fall by its own will, as it is in a very bad state," Trump said.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio added drama to the statements, noting: "When the president speaks, his words should be taken seriously. If I were an official in Havana, I would certainly be very concerned".

Economic Context

Trump also pointed to the close economic ties between Cuba and Venezuela, particularly that the Cuban side supported Nicolas Maduro's regime in exchange for oil and financing.
