At the former military airfield "Krichav-6" in Belarus, the deployment of the rocket complex "Oreshnik" is actively ongoing. Satellite data obtained from Planet Labs confirms the presence of new equipment and possible transport vehicles associated with the complex, marking the first confirmation of its location.
Photos taken on February 9, 2026, clearly show several vehicles that may be part of the rocket complex, located in an area that has undergone numerous changes since construction began in August 2025. This includes the demolition of a local enterprise, new buildings, and the reconstruction of railway tracks.
Official Footage and International Reaction
On December 30, 2025, the defense ministries of Belarus and Russia released video footage demonstrating the "combat readiness" of the "Oreshnik" complex. However, the video only captured three support vehicles and one security vehicle, raising doubts among experts regarding the actual state of affairs.
Thus, the information about the presence of "Oreshnik" complexes in Belarus is supported not only by satellite data but also by the rationale for their deployment during the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko at the end of 2024. At that time, a plan was voiced to place such complexes in response to the request of the Belarusian leader.
Prospects and Suspicions
Experts note that the construction of a new military base and the deployment of the rocket complex may indicate an intensification of military cooperation between Belarus and Russia. This process is taking place against the backdrop of escalating international tensions and potential security threats in the region.
The true scale and functions of the newly created military facility remain subjects of research and observation; however, the primary objective of this process is becoming increasingly clear.
