Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed or suppressed 111 of 133 Russian drones launched against Ukraine from the evening of August 12 into the morning of August 13.
According to the Ukrainian military, Russia used attack UAVs of various types, including Shahed drones, Gerbera drones and Parody decoy UAVs. The drones were launched from several directions, including Kursk, Orel, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.
The attack was countered by Ukrainian air defense forces working together with combat aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units and Ukrainian unmanned systems.
111 drones destroyed or suppressed
As of 8:00 a.m. on August 13, Ukrainian forces had destroyed or electronically suppressed 111 enemy UAVs across the northern, southern and eastern regions of the country.
The military reported that the consequences of the attack were recorded at 15 locations, while fragments of downed or neutralized drones were found at another 16 sites.
Several Russian drones remained in Ukrainian airspace as the military continued to monitor and respond to the attack.
Damage reported in the Izmail district
The overnight attack also affected the Izmail district of Odesa region. Russian forces targeted the area with drones, damaging port infrastructure.
A fire broke out at the site of the strikes. Emergency services were involved in dealing with the consequences of the attack.
The attack once again demonstrated Russia's continued use of large groups of UAVs, including decoy drones designed to complicate the work of Ukrainian air defense and divert attention from the main strike drones.
Ukraine continues to strike Russian targets
The Ukrainian General Staff has also reported that Ukrainian forces struck approximately 226,000 Russian targets during July.
The figures reflect the intensity of combat operations along the front and the continued use of Ukrainian unmanned systems and other weapons to target Russian military positions, equipment and personnel.
Ukraine's air defense remains a critical element of the country's defense against Russian missile and drone attacks, particularly as Russian forces continue launching large numbers of UAVs simultaneously from multiple directions.
