Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack against Ukraine on the evening of August 14 and overnight into August 15. A total of 152 drones and decoy UAVs were used in the attack. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed or suppressed 124 drones and three “Banderol” UAVs.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported the information.
The attack began at approximately 6:00 p.m. on August 14. Russia launched several types of drones, including Shahed UAVs, including jet-powered variants, “Gerbera” drones, “Banderol” UAVs, as well as “Parodiya” decoy drones.
The launches originated from areas around Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk region.
Ukrainian Air Defense Repelled the Attack
The following Ukrainian forces were involved in repelling the attack:
- combat aviation;
- anti-aircraft missile units;
- electronic warfare units;
- unmanned systems units;
- mobile fire teams.
As of 9:00 a.m. on August 15, Ukrainian air defense had destroyed or suppressed 124 enemy drones and three “Banderol” UAVs over the northern, southern and eastern parts of the country.
However, some Russian drones reached their targets. Hits were recorded at 16 locations, while debris from intercepted aerial targets fell at another location.
At the time of the Air Force report, the attack was still ongoing, with the threat of further Russian drone strikes remaining in several areas of Ukraine.
