Member of the Ukrainian Parliament Anna Skorokhod is currently undergoing searches at her residence in Kyiv. She is suspected of being involved in an organized criminal group that demanded a large sum of money from a businessman.
According to sources, including the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), Skorokhod, taking advantage of her status, along with accomplices, extorted $250,000 from the businessman.
Investigation Details
According to statements from anti-corruption bodies, preliminary investigative actions are currently underway. “We confirm that searches are being conducted in a case related to the member of parliament from the ‘For the Future’ group,” noted a source in NABU.
The very sitting of several investigative operations is prompted by serious allegations of corruption, which are substantiated by recorded conversations of the individuals involved in the case. Skorokhod has shown a willingness to cooperate, claiming that she "has nothing to hide." She emphasized that she considers this “a direct pressure” on the opposition.
Background of the Case
Interestingly, Anna Skorokhod has found herself at the center of corruption scandals before. In 2019, she accused the authorities of persecution, linking it to her voting against the land market bill. At that time, she was expelled from the ‘Servant of the People’ group and joined the ‘For the Future’ Party, which is associated with the oligarch Ihor Kolomoiskyi.
Further clarifications and developments in this case are expected. ANTI-CORRUPTION bodies promise to reveal important information soon.
