President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made personnel changes in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGU). Serhiy Deineka was dismissed from the position of SBGU head, and Valerii Vavryniuk was temporarily assigned to perform the duties.

Zelenskyy announced the appointment through relevant decrees published on the official website of the head of state. The document clearly states: "Dismiss Serhiy Vasylovych Deineka from the position of Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine".

Serhiy Deineka's New Position

At the same time, the former SBGU head is not left without work. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, Serhiy Deineko was appointed as an advisor to the minister. Klymenko noted that he values the managerial experience of the general, gained over more than 6 years in his previous position.

In addition, Deineko decided to continue his military service. After a short rehabilitation, he will be appointed as the commander of a combat unit of the SBGU.

Temporary SBGU Leader

Valerii Vavryniuk, who previously held the position of First Deputy Head of the SBGU, will temporarily perform the duties of the service head. For reference, on April 30, 2023, the President of Ukraine awarded Vavryniuk the rank of Major General.
