President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the appointment of Mykhailo Fedorov as the new Minister of Defense of the country. The head of state made this announcement in his address.
"I have decided to change the work format of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. I proposed Mykhailo Fedorov to become the new Minister of Defense," Zelenskyy noted.
Reasons for the Appointment
According to the president, Fedorov has significant experience in implementing technological solutions. In particular, he is deeply involved with the "Drone Line" and has substantial developments in the digitalization of public services.
The previous Minister of Defense, Denys Shmyhal, according to Zelenskyy, "remains in the team" and will continue state work in another direction.
Priorities of the New Minister
Zelenskyy emphasized the need to implement changes in the defense sector, including:
- Strengthening weapons production
- Technological update of the defense complex
- Support for national weapons manufacturers
- Coordination with military command
"Everything rests on the resilience of Ukrainians, and in our resilience, we must have the necessary weapons, energy, finances, politics, and institutional support," the president emphasized.
