On December 26, Ukraine will be covered by real winter with heavy snowfall, strong winds and ice on the roads. This was reported by meteorologists from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Atmospheric fronts from the north will cause cloudy skies across the entire territory of the country. At night, snow is expected in northern, most eastern and central regions, and during the day - throughout Ukraine, except for the far west.
Dangerous weather conditions
Along with snowfall, ice will form on roads, which will significantly complicate transport movement. Air currents will move from the northwest at speeds of 7-12 m/s.
Particularly dangerous will be wind gusts up to 15-20 m/s, which are expected at night in northern regions, and during the day throughout Ukraine, except for Transcarpathia. This will cause blizzards.
Temperature regime
Due to increased cloud cover, frosts will weaken somewhat. On the nearest night, the temperature will be -4...-9°C, in the Carpathians and Precarpathians - down to -13°C. Daily maximums throughout the country will reach 0...-5°C.
Weather in the capital
In Kyiv and Kyiv region it will be cloudy, moderate snow is expected at night, light snow during the day. Ice is forecast on the roads.
Northwest wind 7-12 m/s, with gusts up to 15-20 m/s and blizzards. Temperature in the region at night -4...-9°C, during the day 0...-5°C. In Kyiv at night -6...-8°C, during the day 0...-2°C.
Weekend forecast
According to meteorologists' forecasts, by the end of the week the temperature in Ukraine will rise to -2...0°C, however snow and freezing rain will cover all regions of the country. On Saturday and Sunday, new waves of snowfall are expected throughout Ukraine.
The heaviest snowfall on Sunday is forecast in Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk regions and Zaporizhzhia.
