Among the main holidays today is the Resurrection at the Last Judgment, or Meat-Fare Resurrection. In Orthodoxy, this day commemorates the memory of Saint Apostle Onesimus. Onesimus was essentially a slave whom the Apostle Paul converted to Christianity. He became a bishop and suffered a martyr's death for his faith.

Among the folk traditions of this day is baking pies in the shape of larks. It is believed that many stars in the sky promise a late spring, while a thaw indicates an early and warm spring.
