On Friday, December 26, Kharkiv and Kharkiv region will be hit by a powerful snow storm with blizzards and ice on the roads. The Kharkiv Regional Hydrometeorological Center has announced Level I danger due to adverse weather conditions.

According to weather forecasters, significant snowfall with blizzards is expected throughout the day. Westerly winds will intensify to 7-12 m/s with gusts up to 15-20 m/s, creating additional difficulties on the roads.

Temperature conditions and precipitation

In Kharkiv, air temperature at night will be from -4°C to -6°C, during the day — from -1°C to -3°C. Throughout the region, thermometer readings will drop to -3°C...-8°C at night, and stay within -1°C...-6°C during the day.

Snow cover height may reach 5-10 cm, locally up to 15 cm. Such weather conditions will last from December 26 to 29, which may lead to traffic complications on certain sections of roads and streets.

Warning for drivers and pedestrians

Meteorologists urge road users to be extremely careful and attentive. Ice formation is expected on roads, which will significantly complicate vehicle traffic.

Road services have already switched to enhanced operation mode, preparing to combat the consequences of snowfall and ice.

Outlook for the coming days

After the active phase of the cyclone ends, from December 27 meteorologists forecast gradual warming. Air temperature may rise to +1°C...+4°C during the day, but precipitation in the form of wet snow or snow with rain is possible.

Experts advise Kharkiv residents to refrain from unnecessary trips during the period of highest storm activity and stock up on everything necessary in advance.
