On Friday, December 26, Ukrainians will face deteriorating weather conditions across the entire territory of the country. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center announced a yellow level of danger due to strong winds, blizzards and ice on roads.

Atmospheric fronts from the north will cause cloudy skies and snowfall. Snow is expected at night in northern, most eastern and central regions, and during the day - throughout Ukraine, except the far west.

Dangerous Meteorological Phenomena

The greatest threats will be:

  • Wind gusts with speeds up to 15-20 m/s
  • Blizzards throughout Ukraine, except Transcarpathia
  • Ice on roads

Air currents will move from the northwest with speeds of 7-12 m/s. Conditions will be especially dangerous at night in northern regions and during the day throughout the country.

Temperature Regime

Despite increased cloudiness, which will somewhat weaken the frosts, the temperature will remain negative. The coming night is expected to be -4...-9 degrees, in the Carpathians and Subcarpathians - up to 13 degrees below zero. Daytime readings will be 0...5 degrees below zero.

Weather in Kyiv and Region

In the capital region, cloudy weather is forecast with moderate snow at night and light snow during the day. Ice will form on roads.

Air temperature in Kyiv:

  • At night: -6...-8 degrees
  • During the day: 0...-2 degrees

Throughout Kyiv region, the temperature will be -4...-9 degrees at night, 0...-5 degrees during the day.

The Kyiv City State Administration calls on citizens to exercise caution:

  • Close windows tightly and remove objects from balconies that might fall
  • Stay away from advertising boards, power lines and large trees
  • Do not park cars near trees
  • Drivers should maintain safe distances
  • Pedestrians should wear reflectors in dark hours
