On the night of December 6, during another massive strike from Russia, the railway station in Fastiv, Kyiv region, was attacked. As a result of this hostile shelling, the station sustained significant damage, with the station building being essentially destroyed to the ground.
Photos published after the attack show that not only the station building but also the trains that were at the station were damaged due to the fire that broke out as a result of the shelling. According to reports from "Ukrzaliznytsia," the enemy shell explosions have led to changes in train schedules.
Consequences and Response
It is noted that, fortunately, no human losses have been recorded. However, the movement of suburban trains remains difficult. "Ukrzaliznytsia" is promptly implementing changes to the schedule and organizing alternative routes to accommodate passengers.
In particular, train movements from Kyiv to Fastiv-1, from Teslu to Fastiv-2, and in the directions of Zhytomyr and Vasylkiv have been limited. A shuttle transportation service has now been organized on the route Kyiv – Motovilovka to ensure communication with other stations.
The head of "Ukrzaliznytsia," Oleksandr Persovskyi, has traveled to the scene to assess the damage done. All efforts are directed towards restoring the operation of the station and preserving as many routes for passengers as possible.
Situation in the Region
This attack is part of a broader shelling campaign that has affected not only Fastiv but also other areas of the Kyiv region, including the Vyshhorod and Bucha districts. The regional administration urges all residents to follow safety rules and carefully monitor official updates.
As of today, 59 trains of various directions have been delayed, with delays reaching up to 6 hours due to the need to replan routes. "Ukrzaliznytsia" emphasizes that they continue to fulfill their obligations to transport passengers despite the difficult conditions.
