Former Ukrainian MP Andriy Derkach, who is also involved in the high-profile "Midas" case, received the title of "Hero of Russia." This occurred at a meeting of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, which took place on December 10. The information about the awarding of this title to him was announced by the Russian news agency "Kommersant."

At the plenary session, Valentina Matviyenko, the head of the Federation Council, congratulated all holders of the "Golden Star" on the occasion of Heroes of the Fatherland Day. Among those recognized was Derkach, who has been a senator from the Astrakhan region since 2022.

Derkach gained widespread attention in Ukraine after the publication of recordings of telephone conversations between former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden in 2020. In 2022, he was reported as being recruited by Russian intelligence. Later, in 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky deprived Derkach of his citizenship.

Derkach is currently actively collaborating with Russia, serving on the Defense and Security Committee of the Federation Council as a senator. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing regarding his activities in Ukraine, including suspicions of financial crimes and treason.

It is worth noting that Derkach is also involved in the case of embezzlement at the "Energoatom" concern, where his assistant became one of the key figures in the investigation. The money laundering office linked to his family confirms Derkach's connections to corrupt schemes.
