The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) exposed the leader of the "Batkivshchyna" faction Yulia Tymoshenko in a corruption scheme of bribing people's deputies.

According to official information from anti-corruption agencies, Tymoshenko offered improper benefits to deputies from other factions for voting "for" or "against" specific draft laws.

Case Details

NABU reported that they conducted searches in the party "Batkivshchyna" office on Turivska Street in Kyiv. The preliminary qualification of the offense is part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with confiscation of property.

People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko confirmed the information, stating that Tymoshenko was negotiating with deputies about joining or informally adding to the "Batkivshchyna" faction for money.

At present, Yulia Tymoshenko has not provided an official comment regarding the charges.
