Today, December 23, 2025, the situation in Ukraine remains tense. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a high probability of mass strikes from Russia during the holiday days. This time, the threat concerns the Christmas period — December 23, 24, and 25, when, according to Zelensky, the enemy may launch attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
The decision to strengthen air defense was made at the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The president emphasized the necessity to maximize the protection of cities and communities, as Russia's behavior leaves no room for hope for a "Christmas truce" and demonstrates a lack of willingness to compromise.
According to monitoring services, Russia is actively preparing strategic aviation forces, including Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers, and is deploying missile carriers with "Kalibrs" in the Black Sea capable of executing massive strikes. Zelensky emphasized that intelligence and air defense efforts are currently crucial and ordered maximum strengthening of both monitoring and protection.
Meanwhile, in Russian Budyonnovsk, there was a series of explosions at the Stavrolen chemical plant due to drone actions, highlighting once again the danger of current events and the potential escalation of the conflict.
These concerns have already triggered an international response. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz urged Russia to halt aggression and support the idea of a Christmas truce. However, the Kremlin rejected these proposals, and spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Russia's unwillingness to cease fire during the holidays.
Considering the potential threat, the Ukrainian government continues to enhance defense capabilities, working on new contracts for the supply of air defense systems and the development of its own production capacities.
