This morning, December 10, in an apartment on Lesia Ukrainka Square in Kyiv, the body of 41-year-old Dmytro Kadenyuk, the son of the first astronaut of independent Ukraine, Leonid Kadenyuk, was discovered. According to sources, the man was found with stab wounds and was holding a knife in his hand.

At the time of the police's arrival at 8:00 AM, a forensic investigative team and a forensic expert were working at the scene. The body was discovered by his mother, Vera Kadenyuk, who lived with him in the same apartment. The woman reported that she had gone to bed the night before and found her son in the corridor in a bloody state when she went to the toilet early in the morning.

Preliminary information indicated that Dmytro had multiple cuts on his body, and the nature of the injuries may suggest a struggle rather than suicide. A suicide note has not been found so far. The Kyiv police officially confirmed the information about investigating the circumstances of the death and opening a criminal proceeding for intentional homicide (Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Inheritance Situation

It is worth noting that after Leonid Kadenyuk's death, disputes arose among relatives regarding the inheritance, specifically a 4-room apartment in Pechersk. Vera Kadenyuk stated that she and her son received threats from the astronaut's other son from his first marriage, Volodymyr, who also claims rights to the inheritance.

Dmytro Kadenyuk, according to information provided by the family's acquaintances, had certain mental disorders and was under medical supervision.

Investigative actions continue at the scene of the tragedy, and the police are exploring all possible versions regarding the incident.
