People's Deputy Nestor Shufrich, who has been in custody since September 2023, was allowed by the Kyiv Court of Appeal to be released on bail of 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias.
Case Details
On February 8, 2024, Shufrich was served a new suspicion of financing the Russian Guard. Previously, he was suspected of state treason and working for the FSB intelligence network.
Challenges with Bail Payment
Lawyer Viktor Karpenko noted that posting bail is currently impossible, as Shufrich is under sanctions. No person can pay bail for him due to financial restrictions.
Defense Position
The deputy's son, Oleksandr Shufrich, suggested that his party colleagues might show political solidarity and pay bail for his father.
Currently, the politician remains in custody, despite the court's decision allowing bail.
