Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to replace the commander of Air Command "South," Dmytro Karpenko. This decision was announced following the recent missile strikes by the Russian Federation on Odesa, which significantly damaged the critical infrastructure of the region.
In an online address to journalists, President Zelenskyy stated: "We will fight for the logistics of each of our regions. Right now, we are fighting for Odesa, strengthening air defense, and we will also reinforce the command. Today, I discussed the issue of replacing the commander of Air Command South, Karpenko."
Major General Dmytro Karpenko has held the position of commander of Air Command "South" since 2022. Currently, efforts are underway to find a new candidate for this position. The President emphasized the importance of timely response to challenges and maximizing the protection of people and the city of Odesa.

According to his words, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba and local authorities are working on site, making every effort to ensure the region's viability.
Let us recall that a series of massive strikes on Odesa and the Odesa region led to significant destruction, including damage to energy infrastructure objects, administrative buildings, and ports. As a result of the attacks, eight people died, and another 27 were injured.
