On Friday, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, made an official visit to Warsaw at the invitation of Poland's President, Karol Nawrocki. This visit was a landmark event for both countries, strengthening their cooperation in matters of security and economy. According to Nawrocki, Zelensky's visit is not only good news for Warsaw and Kyiv but also demonstrates the strategic unity of the region's countries in the face of threats from the Russian Federation.
During a joint press conference at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, Zelensky emphasized proposals for cooperation with Poland in the field of maritime security and drone defense. He stressed that Ukraine possesses modern protection technologies and is ready to share its experience with Polish partners.
Financial issues and support from the European Union also became an important topic of the talks. Following the recent decision by the EU to grant Ukraine a loan of 90 billion euros, Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed confidence that this would significantly strengthen Ukraine's negotiating position regarding Russia. He also noted, "The aggressor must pay for all the losses and destruction."
This visit is the first official one since Nawrocki assumed the presidency of Poland in August this year and highlights the importance of strengthening the Polish-Ukrainian alliance in the context of European security.
It is expected that during the visit, Zelensky will also hold meetings with Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk and high-ranking members of the Polish parliament. These discussions aim to deepen the interaction between the countries and join efforts in countering threats from neighboring states.
