On the night of February 12, a powerful detonation occurred at the arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the Kotluban area of the Volgograd region. According to the information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the attack was carried out by Ukrainian troops using FP-5 “Flamingo” rocket systems, resulting in a large-scale fire and the danger of further detonation.
The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrei Bocharov, confirmed that there was an attempt of a missile attack during the incident, which resulted in debris falling in the vicinity of the village of Kotluban. Due to the threat to local residents, evacuation was announced. In this regard, authorities opened temporary accommodation points for the evacuees.
The incident continued until this time, and authorities are urging citizens to adhere to safety measures. According to Governor Bocharov, no civilian casualties have been reported; however, the danger remains due to ongoing firefighting efforts.
Ukrainian Telegram channels also claim that the attack was aimed at ammunition depots and training sites of the Russian rocket and artillery forces. However, information about the consequences of the attack is still being clarified.
