On Friday, December 26, Ukraine expects a sharp deterioration in weather conditions with snow, strong wind and ice on the roads. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has declared a yellow danger level for most regions of the country.
What meteorologists forecast
Atmospheric fronts from the north will cause cloudy skies throughout Ukraine's territory. Snow is expected at night in northern, most eastern and central regions, and during the day - practically throughout the entire country, except the far west.
Air currents will move from the northwest at speeds of 7-12 m/s. The most dangerous will be wind gusts up to 15-20 m/s, which will cause blizzards. At night this phenomenon will affect northern regions, and during the day will spread throughout Ukraine, except Transcarpathia.
Temperature regime
Despite increasing cloudiness, frost will somewhat weaken compared to previous days. On the nearest night, temperature will be -4..-9°C, and in the Carpathians and Precarpathians - down to -13°C. Daytime temperatures will fluctuate from 0 to -5°C throughout the country's territory.
Dangerous phenomena
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns about ice formation on roads, which will significantly complicate vehicle traffic. Such weather conditions may lead to:
- Complications in energy enterprises' operations
- Problems in construction and municipal services functioning
- Difficulties in transport connections
Weather in Kyiv and region
A yellow danger level will also be in effect in the capital region. Cloudy weather with moderate snow at night and light snow during the day is expected. Ice is forecast on Kyiv region roads.
Temperature in the region will be -4..-9°C at night, 0..-5°C during the day. In Kyiv, -6..-8°C is expected at night, 0..-2°C during the day.
