Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced personnel changes in the Ministry of Defense, proposing the position of defense minister to the current Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.
In his evening address, the head of state announced the decision to change the work format of the Ministry of Defense. "I proposed Mykhailo Fedorov to become the new Minister of Defense," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Reasons for Appointment
The President highlighted Fedorov's professional competencies, particularly his deep involvement in the "Drone Line" project and high efficiency in digitizing government processes. According to Zelenskyy, Fedorov will be able to implement necessary changes and add technological innovation to the ministry's work.
Previous Minister
Current Minister Denys Shmyhal, according to Zelenskyy, remains on the team and will receive another important state appointment that will be no less crucial for the country's stability.
It is worth noting that Mykhailo Fedorov is 34 years old and has held the position of Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation since 2019.
