A court in Zhytomyr has sentenced a 30-year-old local woman who repeatedly reported nonexistent bomb threats at public locations. According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the woman was sentenced to five years in prison.

Investigators established that between July and August 2024, the convicted woman sent dozens of false reports claiming that explosives had been planted at various locations in Zhytomyr and Kyiv.

The locations mentioned in her reports included educational institutions, government buildings, and shopping centers. These false alerts forced emergency services and law enforcement agencies to respond to potential threats and conduct security checks.

According to the SBU, the woman had previously been convicted of similar offenses. However, her prior criminal record did not prevent her from committing further crimes.

Following the trial, the court imposed a five-year prison sentence.

The defense appealed the decision, but the appellate court upheld the original verdict without changes.

The court ruling has now entered into legal force and is final.
