President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, on January 29, 2026, honored the memory of the Heroes of Kruty by laying flowers at the memorial cross at Askold's Grave in Kyiv.
The Head of State met with families of fallen defenders, including mothers and fathers of the heroic fallen: Lilia Averianova, Marina Sochenko, Marina, Lyudmyla, and Viktor Petrychenko.
Honoring the Memory of Heroes
Zelenskyy also honored the memory of other Ukrainian heroes, including:
- Mark Paslavsky, killed near Ilovaisk
- Oleksandr Klitynsky, participant of the Revolution of Dignity
- Dmytro Kotsiubaylo (call sign Da Vinci), commander of the "Da Vinci Wolves" battalion
- Andriy Pilshchykov (call sign Juice), fighter pilot
- Pavlo Petrychenko, soldier of the 59th Separate Assault Brigade
- Lyubomyr Sochenko, participant of the Revolution of Dignity
The ceremony took place near the Church of St. Nicholas, where the president honored the heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence.
