Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed the appointment of Pavlo Yelizarov as the Deputy Commander of the Air Force. The head of state announced this in his evening address.

According to Zelenskyy, Yelizarov is known in military circles by the pseudonym "Lazar" and is a member of an effective special unit. The President emphasized that the appointment is related to the transformation of the air defense system.

New Approaches to Air Defense

Zelenskyy announced the introduction of a new approach to air defense, including:

  • Creating mobile fire groups
  • Using interceptor drones
  • Developing "small" air defense

Together with the Minister of Defense and military command, an updated strategy for protecting Ukraine's airspace is planned to be developed.
