The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the resignation of Denys Shmyhal from the position of Minister of Defense. 265 people's deputies voted for the respective decision.
Before his dismissal, Shmyhal personally reported to the parliamentarians, highlighting key achievements in his position. In particular, he emphasized increasing the share of domestic weapons on the front and introducing a special legal regime of "Defence City".
Personnel Reshuffles
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that Shmyhal head the Ministry of Energy. This decision was made as part of the announced personnel rotations aimed at strengthening the government's capabilities.
Previously, Denys Shmyhal held the position of Prime Minister of Ukraine and was appointed Minister of Defense in July 2025.
Politicians' Reactions
Deputies evaluated the dismissal decision differently. In particular, people's deputy Solomiia Bobrovska called Shmyhal's work "colossal", while her faction did not support the personnel decision.
