The U.S. Coast Guard has detained another oil tanker, Olina, which is part of the Russian "shadow fleet", near Trinidad Island in the Caribbean Sea. The operation was conducted overnight jointly by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Southern Spear Joint Task Force.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the vessel is under sanctions from the U.S., EU, UK, Canada, and other countries. The tanker was falsely sailing under the flag of East Timor.

Previously, Olina left Venezuela last week, fully loaded with oil. According to data from the British company Vanguard, the vessel's AIS location tracking system was last active 52 days ago in the Venezuelan economic zone.

This is the fifth tanker detained by Americans in recent weeks as part of a hunt for vessels violating international sanctions.
