Today, the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out a unique operation that will leave its mark in the history of the war. In the port of Novorossiysk, underwater drones of the Security Service of Ukraine, known as "Sub Sea Baby," for the first time detonated a Russian submarine of the 636.3 "Varshavyanka" class, also classified by NATO as Kilo.

The explosion caused critical damage to the submarine, which, according to the Security Service, was effectively rendered inoperable. There were four launchers for "Kalibr" cruise missiles aboard the submarine. These missiles are used by Russian military forces to strike targets in Ukraine.

The operation was a joint effort of the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Naval Forces of Ukraine. The cost of a "Varshavyanka" class submarine is approximately 400 million US dollars. Considering international sanctions, building a similar submarine now could cost up to 500 million dollars.

This class of submarines is also referred to as the "Black Hole" due to their ability to absorb sounds and remain inconspicuous to sonar. It is important to note that the destroyed submarine was forced to remain in the port of Novorossiysk due to the successful operations of surface marine drones "Sea Baby," which drove Russian ships and submarines out of Sevastopol Bay in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Such actions by the Defense Forces of Ukraine indicate a gradual decline in the capabilities of the Russian fleet, which has already suffered significant losses, including 15 destroyed and 12 damaged enemy ships.
