Every morning at 09:00, a national moment of silence is announced in Ukraine, during which the memory of all citizens who died as a result of Russian aggression is honored.

Purpose and Significance of the Moment of Silence

The initiative, launched by a Decree of the President of Ukraine, is aimed at honoring both military personnel and civilians who gave their lives defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.

Example of Remembrance

Today, in particular, they remembered Mykola Burachko — an operator of the 3rd Mountain Assault Company, who died on January 12, 2024, during a shootout with occupiers in the Bakhmut District of Donetsk Region. The hero, who volunteered in 2014, was called to the Armed Forces on February 28, 2022, and was awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd Class.

The daily moment of silence is a tribute of respect and memory to those who gave the most precious thing for Ukraine's freedom.
