Today, December 17, 2025, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported significant changes on the front. Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled 278 attacks by Russian invaders. The most intense combat clashes were recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, where the enemy attempted to assault 82 times.
The enemy continues intensive attacks with aviation and artillery. According to the staff, over the last day, Russian forces launched 74 air strikes, dropping 179 guided aircraft bombs. A total of 3,729 shellings were carried out, including the use of 75 multiple rocket launcher systems, and 3,523 kamikaze drones were deployed.
Besides the Pokrovsk direction, Russian military actions intensified on other fronts. In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Ukrainian units repelled 15 attacks. In the Kupiansk direction, 24 attacks were recorded, while in the Lyman direction—27 assaults. In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders halted 28 occupant attacks.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains tense, but Ukrainian defenders control the majority of positions. "Our forces continue to successfully defend vital strategic points," he noted.
The total combat losses of Russian forces from February 24, 2022, to December 16, 2025, amount to approximately 1,190,620 personnel, with 220 neutralized in the Pokrovsk direction alone over the last day.
