Today, December 23, 2025, a tragic event occurred in Los Angeles - well-known video game developer Vince Zampella died as a result of a traffic accident. He was 55 years old. The incident happened on the Angeles Crest Highway in the San Gabriel Mountains when the luxury Ferrari car in which Zampella was traveling went off the road, hit a concrete barrier, and caught fire.
According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, a second person in the car was also injured in the crash. The passenger was thrown from the car and later died in the hospital. It has not been confirmed who was driving the car at the time of the accident.
Vince Zampella is one of the key figures in the video game world, co-author of the Call of Duty series. This game revolutionized the first-person shooter genre and sold over 500 million copies. Together with his colleagues Jason West and Grant Collier, Zampella founded the Infinity Ward studio in 2002 and later worked on other popular projects such as Titanfall and Apex Legends.
