The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, announced progress in discussions regarding a peace agreement between Ukraine and the United States, specifically concerning the 19 points that were agreed upon during the recent negotiations in Geneva. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, confirmed that most provisions could be accepted after constructive amendments were made.
“I truly believe we are moving in a positive direction. Today, there are signs that most of the text, as noted by Volodymyr Zelensky, can be accepted,” Starmer stated in his speech, urging the international community to reaffirm its commitment to supporting the peace operation in Ukraine.
According to him, multinational forces will play a “vital role” in ensuring Ukraine's security, particularly emphasizing the need for robust capabilities and detailed plans to prevent potential violations by Russia.
According to reports, the agreed peace agreement includes the principle of potential security and cooperation between states. A voice from one of the American officials confirmed that only minor details remained to finalize the agreement, after the number of points had been reduced from 28 to 19 following negotiations in Geneva.
Additionally, it should be noted that U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is also actively participating in negotiations in Abu Dhabi, where these proposals are being discussed with Russian officials. Driscoll and his team remain optimistic about the next steps.
President Zelensky, commenting on the results of the negotiations, stated: “We appreciate that the majority of the world is ready to help Ukraine and is actively working to establish several working commissions to develop the peace plan.” He emphasized that constructive cooperation with international partners remains a priority for Ukraine in this process.
Thus, it is evident that the international community is providing Ukraine with the necessary support in achieving lasting peace, hoping for an end to the war with Russia soon.
