On December 26, Kyiv and Kyiv region are expected to experience true winter weather with snowfall, strong winds and ice formation on roads. This is reported by Ukrhydrometeorological Center.
According to weather forecasters, atmospheric fronts from the north will bring cloudy weather with precipitation to the capital. Moderate snow is forecast at night, light snow during the day. Ice formation is possible on roads, creating a threat for drivers and pedestrians.
Wind and blizzards
Wind will be northwesterly at 7-12 m/s, with gusts up to 15-20 m/s. This will cause blizzards, which will additionally worsen visibility on roads and complicate transportation.
Temperature regime
In Kyiv region, air temperature at night will be -4...-9 degrees, during the day it is expected to be from 0 to -5 degrees frost. In the capital it will be somewhat warmer: at night -6...-8 degrees, during the day around 0...-2 degrees frost.
Weather forecasters note that due to increased cloud cover, the frost will weaken somewhat compared to previous days when temperatures dropped significantly lower.
Situation in Ukraine
Winter weather will cover practically the entire territory of Ukraine, except for Transcarpathia. The lowest probability of precipitation is expected in western regions. Meanwhile, in northern, most central and eastern regions, snowfall will be particularly intense.
Ukrhydrometeorological Center urges drivers to be especially careful on roads due to the possibility of ice formation and reduced visibility during blizzards.
