A dramatic explosion occurred at the missile base near the city of Yasny in Orenburg, attracting the attention of the media and local residents. Local inhabitants reported a loud sound, after which a huge purple cloud rose into the sky, raising many questions.
According to information obtained by the publication "Ural56," the explosion occurred in the area of the strategic missile forces base, which houses the latest ballistic missiles. Officials have not commented on the cause of the incident; however, local residents suggested that the probable cause was an emergency missile launch.
Initial inspections of the incident site indicate that this explosion may be the result of an unsuccessful launch of the RS-28 "Sarmat" intercontinental ballistic missile. The operational range of this missile is considered strategic, as it can carry a nuclear warhead. Observers also released photos from the scene showing the emission of purple smoke.
Experts who analyzed the situation emphasized that the color of the emission is characteristic of rocket fuel, which is extremely toxic. This smoke's coloring resembles emissions observed after accidents involving Soviet and Russian rockets, such as the "Proton." The polluting components detected in the smoke have raised concerns about environmental consequences.
The "Yasny" cosmodrome was classified as a site with the capability for launching intercontinental missiles, and in light of recent events, discussions about the possible resumption of "Sarmat" tests at this base have intensified. The situation has raised alarm among experts, as previous numerous attempts to launch the "Sarmat" have ended in failure.
Officially, the authorities stated that there is no threat to the population and evacuation plans are not being discussed.
