President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed details about what the "compromise vision" of the United States is concerning control over Donbas during a meeting with journalists in Kyiv. According to him, America proposes the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of Donetsk on the condition that Russian troops do not enter this territory.

Zelensky noted that the territorial issue remains unresolved within the framework of peace negotiations, and it is currently difficult to say how this will be reflected in the final documents. He emphasized that Ukraine does not accept attempts by Russia to gain control over the entire Donbas.

Negotiations with the U.S.

According to the information provided by the president, the American side is considering options for creating a "free economic zone," which remains a complex issue for the Ukrainian side. "When you talk to us about a compromise, you must provide fair conditions," he emphasized.

During the consultations, the Ukrainian side also conveyed its response to U.S. President Donald Trump's administration regarding the latest proposals for the peace plan. This response contains new ideas concerning territories and control over the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.

No ultimatums were issued

Zelensky also reported that no clear ultimatums were issued by the U.S. regarding the deadlines for signing the peace agreement, despite the American side's interest in achieving results as soon as possible.

Amendments to the peace plan being discussed include security guarantees for Ukraine, similar to the principles of NATO's fifth article, as well as monitoring the implementation of the contract conditions.

The president emphasized the importance of finding adequate responses to all questions that arise during negotiations, including the possibility of decisions based on a referendum.
