Starting today, the patrol police is implementing speed control using TruCAM devices on 14 new road sections in Ukraine. This measure aims to enhance road safety and reduce the number of accidents caused by speeding. In the Lviv region, a new speed measurement section has been established on the Lviv–Shehyni highway in the village of Berehove of Mostyska community.
According to the Patrol Police of Ukraine, the introduction of TruCAM will complement already existing automatic violation recording cameras on the same sections. This so-called combined method, they claim, allows for greater effectiveness in enforcing speed limits.
Innovations for Safety
TruCAM manufactures portable laser devices that allow for measuring the speed of vehicles at a distance. They help quickly and accurately identify speed violations, making them an essential tool in the patrol police's arsenal.
Enhancing Safety
In total, 160 TruCAM devices will be operational on Ukrainian roads. Patrol officers will measure speed at 335 road sections, with 33 located in Lviv and the Lviv region. It is noteworthy that the locations for these devices have been determined based on accident rates—on hazardous sections and in areas with high concentrations of accidents caused by speeding.
The Patrol Police also informs that in regions with active combat operations, such as Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the use of TruCAM is temporarily suspended. However, in areas like Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson, these devices are being used on safe road sections.
Thanks to the use of TruCAM and other control methods, patrol officers have significantly reduced the number of accidents caused by speeding, ensuring road safety for all road users.
