The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has presented details of the investigation into the murder of former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, who died from a gunshot this week in Lviv. The suspect in the murder, 52-year-old Mykhailo Stselnykov, has been detained and is suspected of having ties to Russian special services.
According to the SBU report, a Makarov-type pistol, which was used to make the fatal shot, was found in a hiding place set up by the suspect after the murder. At the time of detention, the investigation confirmed that traces of the killer's DNA were found on the weapon.
Details of the Murder
On August 30, 2025, in Lviv, Parubiy was shot dead as a result of several shots fired by an unidentified man. The attacker fled the scene, prompting the local police to announce a special operation "Siren" for his capture.
Detention of the Suspect
On September 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the detention of the suspect, who, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, has Russian connections. According to the prosecutor's office, Stselnykov was passing information about the deployment and movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to representatives of Russian special services.
