The situation in the city of Siversk, located in the Sloviansk direction of the Donetsk region, remains complex but under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. According to the Operational Command "East," despite attempts by the enemy to infiltrate the city with small infantry groups, most of these units are destroyed before they can reach the city.

Spokesman for the 11th Army Corps, Dmytro Zaporozhets, noted that the enemy is trying to take advantage of unfavorable weather conditions to carry out attacks. "In Donetsk region, snow works in favor of the enemy; however, our army is actively working to eliminate threats," he emphasized. He also reported that primarily this is being done with the help of FPV drones and artillery.

According to him, although the enemy is trying to control part of the city, Ukrainian forces continue their campaign to eliminate enemy groups. "If we talk about whether the enemy is in the settlement of Siversk, then yes, they are. But they do not have control," Zaporozhets added.

This information is corroborated by statements from the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, who, in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 11, claimed that Siversk was occupied. However, experts believe that the actual circumstances are exaggerated, as street fighting continues, and Siversk remains under the control of Ukrainian forces.

At the same time, the commander of the Russian Southern Group of Forces, Sergey Medvedev, claims that capturing Siversk creates conditions for further advancement towards Sloviansk.

Siversk is a strategically important city that has become a battleground since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. The city, which had a population of about 12,000 before the war, has suffered significant destruction and repeated attacks from the enemy.
