In Kyiv, a daily moment of silence has been introduced to honor the memory of fallen Ukrainian soldiers. This was reported by Victoria Strakhova, an adviser to the Head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine.

New System of Honoring Heroes

Starting today, a moment of silence will be announced for the entire Presidential Office of Ukraine through a special notification system, similar to the one used in security and defense sector institutions.

Ceremony on Khreshchatyk

Every morning at 9:00, traffic on Khreshchatyk stops on the section from European Square to Taras Shevchenko Boulevard. This allows Kyiv residents and city guests to honor the memory of fallen defenders.

Initiative History

The decision on a daily moment of silence was made in 2022 with the support of civic organizations. In December 2025, the Verkhovna Rada passed a bill confirming the significance of this tradition.

The moment of silence has become a symbol of memory, solidarity, and deep respect for the heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence.
