The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced the introduction of an emergency situation mode in the country's energy system due to Russian missile attacks and challenging weather conditions.

As part of emergency measures, the government will create a permanent coordination headquarters in Kyiv. Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal has been appointed as the head of operations.

Key Presidential Decisions:

  • Revise curfew rules in certain cities
  • Maximize collaboration with international partners
  • Ensure deregulation of backup equipment connection
  • Increase electricity import volumes

According to Zelenskyy, the consequences of Russian shelling and worsening weather conditions are extremely severe. Repair teams, energy companies, and utility services are working around the clock to restore electricity and heating.
