The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, called for heightened caution during the holidays, warning that Russia may be preparing massive strikes on Ukraine for Christmas. Speaking to reporters, he mentioned the danger posed by the aggressor, consistent with their past practices.
Zelensky noted that Russia openly declared its refusal of proposals for a Christmas truce, dismissing hopes for peace. Thus, Ukraine is strengthening its air defense and monitoring enemy activities, particularly near major cities and villages.
For its part, Russia deployed two surface missile carriers in the Black Sea with Caliber-type missiles. The total volley capacity may reach 16 missiles. Ukrainians are urged not to ignore air raid signals and to avoid being in open areas in case of danger.
The main issue in Zelensky's talks with diplomats was the strengthening of air defense. The president emphasized that these days could be decisive in terms of potential attacks, so enhancing defense initiatives is a priority.
Zelensky also stressed that Russia does not show willingness for diplomatic compromises, further complicating the already tense situation. In response to new threats, Ukrainian services continue active work on monitoring and counter-actions against possible aggressive plans by the enemy.
