Military servicemen of the "Cultural Forces" presented an unconventional musical version of the world-famous Ukrainian song "Shchedryk" on the eve of the New Year, giving it a modern sound.

The unique interpretation of the classical composition was performed by two servicemen: Senior Sergeant Ivan Tkalenko, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war and a bandura player, and soldier Andrii Martynenko (known as Andrii Barmalii), a saxophonist and composer.

New Sound of a Legendary Composition

The musicians presented "Shchedryk" in Mykola Leontovych's classic score, but using an electric bandura and saxophone. The electric bandura added powerful bass and a unique string sound that was previously impossible for a traditional acoustic instrument.

Cultural Diplomacy

It is worth noting that "Shchedryk" has deep historical value. During the liberation struggles, the song became the first instrument of cultural diplomacy for the Ukrainian People's Republic. The concert group led by Oleksandr Koshyts traveled to dozens of countries on three continents, transforming "Shchedryk" into a global cultural phenomenon.

Today, there are over 150 vocal and instrumental versions of this composition, which symbolizes Ukrainian cultural heritage.
