Ukraine has officially joined the European "Roam Like at Home" roaming zone, which allows citizens to use mobile communications in 27 European Union countries without additional charges.
Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov announced the introduction of a new opportunity for Ukrainians traveling or temporarily staying in EU countries. This means that subscribers will be able to make calls, send SMS, and use mobile internet at the same rates as in Ukraine.
New Roaming Conditions
From January 1, 2026, Ukrainians will have the opportunity to:
- Make calls in all 27 EU countries at regular rates
- Send SMS without additional charges
- Use mobile internet under the same conditions
It is important to note that Ukraine is the first candidate country to join the European "Roam Like at Home" initiative even before official entry into the European Union.
Technical Details
According to the head of the National Commission for Electronic Communications, Lilia Malon, the conditions will be the same in all EU countries. The only limitation concerns mobile internet: operators may set special traffic volume restrictions using a special formula.
Currently, about three million Ukrainian SIM cards are used in EU countries, of which over a million are constantly active.
