The delegations of Ukraine and the United States will meet this week to discuss the peace plan that was approved during a recent meeting in Geneva.
Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, emphasized the importance of these negotiations, stating that the common goal is to achieve a lasting and just peace for Ukraine. "It is important not to lose productivity and to work quickly," Yermak wrote on his Telegram channel.
In his message, he added that the Ukrainian delegation is well prepared and focused on a constructive dialogue aimed at achieving tangible progress in the peace process. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed that the delegation will continue working on aligning the points of the agreement and ensuring security guarantees.
Negotiations in Geneva revealed a constructive approach
It is worth noting that during the consultations in Geneva, key issues of discussion included resolving the termination of the war, addressing Ukraine's primary concerns regarding security, and supporting the sovereignty of the state. A new draft of the peace document was presented, which was agreed upon with the participation of European leaders.
In particular, proposals from the United Kingdom, Germany, and France contributed to the removal of some demands that still remained in the original version of the agreement, developed with the involvement of the Russian side.
Kremlin's Reaction
However, it is important to note that the Kremlin's response to the new proposals remained skeptical. The possibility of compromise from Russia raises concerns, as earlier the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, stated that peace negotiations with Kyiv are impossible.
Thus, the results of these negotiations will determine the further course of diplomatic efforts by Ukraine and its Western partners.
