Every Morning at 9:00 AM: Ukraine Honors Fallen Heroes with a Moment of Silence

In Ukraine, a nationwide moment of silence begins every morning at 9:00 AM, established by a Presidential Decree to honor the memory of all citizens who died as a result of Russian aggression.

Purpose of the Initiative

This important tradition is aimed at honoring both military personnel and civilians who gave their lives defending Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

An Example of Heroism

Among those remembered by Ukrainians every morning is Maryan Taras, a machine gun section gunner from the tenth mountain assault brigade. Born on November 26, 1993, in the village of Verkhny Strutyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, he died on January 27, 2023, during a mortar shelling near the settlement of Rozdolivka in the Bakhmut district.

The daily moment of silence is not just a tribute to memory, but a deep respect for those who sacrificed the most precious thing for Ukraine.
