The operational command "East" has refuted information about the capture of the city of Siversk in the Donetsk region by Russian troops. According to their data, the situation in Siversk remains tense, but Ukrainian forces continue to maintain control of the city.

The situation as of December 9, 2025, confirms that despite the enemy's attempts to infiltrate Siversk with small assault groups under unfavorable weather conditions, most of these units are destroyed before reaching the city. In its statement, the "East" command notes that the Defense Forces "are destroying the invaders in the city and on its approaches."

Spokesperson for the 11th Army Corps Dmytro Zaporozeць added that fighting continues on the streets of Siversk against small enemy infantry groups. He explained that the weather conditions, particularly the snow, give the enemy certain advantages as they cover their soldiers with drones, which currently cannot operate due to the weather.

Furthermore, Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov announced the occupation of Siversk; however, this claim has not been corroborated by Ukrainian military sources. The army "is suffering significant losses" in attempts to capture this strategic city, which had a population of about 12,000 people before the full-scale invasion.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to carry out their tasks, strengthening the front line and destroying enemy units on all approaches to Siversk. The surrounding situation remains complicated, but the Ukrainian command is confident in its ability to hold the city.
