The game "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" by the independent French studio "Sandfall Interactive" has received the highest honor at this year's The Game Awards, winning nine awards, including the title of "Game of the Year." This achievement surpassed the previous record of seven awards set by "The Last of Us Part 2" in 2020.

The success of "Clair Obscur" did not go unnoticed: the game garnered awards in the categories of Best Art Direction, Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Performance, Best Music, Best Independent Game, Best RPG, and Best Debut Game. Jennifer English, who voiced one of the main characters, Mael, received the title of Best Actress for her role.

Despite the numerous nominations, "Clair Obscur" did not win the award for Best Sound Design, which went to "Battlefield 6." According to predictions, "Clair Obscur" had a 93% probability of winning the title of "Game of the Year," and its victory, although anticipated, marked a significant achievement for "Sandfall" and the publishing company "Kepler Interactive," known in the indie segment.

Initially, "Clair Obscur" was considered the underdog of the year, but its release in April attracted critics' attention, receiving unanimous praise. Specifically, participation in the "Game Pass" subscription from "Microsoft" helped significantly raise awareness about the game.

However, "Clair Obscur" faced intense competition, notably from notable titles such as "Donkey Kong Bananza" from "Nintendo," "Ghost of Yōtei" from "Sony," and "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" from "Hideo Kojima," not to mention the highly anticipated indie sequels "Hollow Knight: Silksong" and "Hades 2."

This has been a competitive year for the gaming industry; however, "Clair Obscur" has proven that even new studios can achieve great success, even in such a competitive landscape.
