As a result of a massive drone attack by Russia on the energy infrastructure of southern Ukrainian regions on the evening of January 7, the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions were completely de-energized. This was reported by Ukrenergo.

According to the head of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo, Andrii Stasevskyi, electricity was restored in less than 7 hours. "Yesterday, around 22:00, due to a massive drone attack by the enemy on energy infrastructure, the Zaporizhzhia region was completely de-energized. Restoration work began immediately and continued throughout the night," he noted.

Situation in the Regions

In the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, the attack caused large-scale problems:

  • Lack of electricity in most settlements
  • Disruptions in water and heat supply
  • Limited mobile communication

Transportation

Ukrzaliznytsia adapted to the blackout. As of the morning of January 8, train movement has been restored to the standard mode. In Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro, trains with reserve thermal traction are running. Signaling and communication means are operating on backup power.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba reported that over a million subscribers in the Dnipropetrovsk region remain without electricity, heat, and water supply.

Local Authorities' Response

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov assured that all city hospitals have been transferred to generators, with necessary water supplies, and the medical process continues. The city is deploying 89 invincibility points.

Zaporizhzhia authorities have deployed 175 invincibility points and are working to restore infrastructure.
