This week in Lviv, Armed Forces Day of Ukraine is being celebrated, which will include numerous events honoring the heroes who gave their lives for the independence of the country. Ceremonies will begin at 11:00 at the Honorary Burials No. 76 at Lychakiv Cemetery, where the memory of Ukrainian defenders will be honored. On this day, Lviv residents will lay flowers and light candles, as well as hold an ecumenical requiem.

According to a statement from the Lviv Regional State Administration (OVA), honoring the fallen will be an important element of this celebration. At 11:40, there will be a remembrance for the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred at the Honorary Burials No. 67, and at 12:00, a ceremony to honor servicemen who died in the Russo-Ukrainian War will take place at burial site No. 86a.

At 13:00, a joint prayer will be held at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul, where residents of the city will gather in gratitude and respect for those who defended Ukraine. Yuriy Horun, the director of the Department of Communications and Internal Policy of the Lviv ODA, emphasized: “Our soldiers demonstrate courage, loyalty, and love for their homeland every day at the front. Each of them is a Hero and an example of resilience.” He urged all Lviv residents to support the defenders and preserve the memory of their feats.

In addition, on this day, memorial plaques will be unveiled in Lviv in honor of two fallen Heroes - Vyacheslav Volhin and Oleg Bohush, who gave their lives defending the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The memorial plaques will be installed on the building where the servicemen grew up, located at 18 Kolomyiska Street in Lviv.

The official ceremonies and honors will serve as a symbol of unity and gratitude from the Ukrainian people to their defenders who are fighting for the freedom and independence of their homeland.
