Today, February 5, significant power outages have been recorded in Kharkiv and surrounding areas due to Russian missile strikes on critical infrastructure. Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that stable energy supply has become impossible as a result of the morning attack, leading to the suspension of metro services and other forms of electric transport.
Shelling of Energy Infrastructure
During a radio address to journalists, Mr. Terekhov noted: "Yes, there was an attack on the energy infrastructure that powers the city." According to him, energy services are currently working on restoring power supply, but the situation remains complicated.
Situation in the City and Region
Numerous high-rise buildings in Kharkiv are experiencing electricity outages. The mayor could not specify the exact number of subscribers without electricity, as the situation is constantly changing. According to information from "Kharkivenergo," the current outages last 3–5 hours. "They are doing everything possible to restore power supply," Terekhov added.
In addition, as a result of the shelling, six residents of the Kharkiv region were injured, including both women and men of different ages. Enemy attacks were carried out against civilian infrastructure facilities, including power grids.
Further Actions and Response
Mr. Terekhov also emphasized the importance of monitoring the situation and quick response to emergency outages. Energy services will continue to work closely with local authorities to coordinate efforts to restore stable power supply.
In recent days, Kharkiv and 10 populated areas of the region have suffered numerous enemy attacks, demonstrating the relevance of the situation in the region in terms of security and energy stability.
